Rotate Acquires Data Build Company to Power the Launch of Rotate Data Services

Share

Rotate, the global air cargo software and strategy consulting company, has announced the acquisition of Data Build Company (DBC), a Netherlands-based data engineering consultancy with a track record of building enterprise-scale data platforms and technology solutions for global organizations across aviation, logistics, pharma, finance, retail, and government. The deal brings a proven engineering consultancy in-house and marks a significant boost in Rotate’s ambition to build best-in-class data services for the air cargo industry.

The acquisition accelerates the launch of Rotate Data Services, a dedicated consulting practice built on a simple premise: helping the air cargo industry fix its data challenges from developing a data strategy through to building data foundations from scratch with hands-on data engineering.

The air cargo industry is not short on data, but most companies struggle to turn it into action. Siloed systems, poor data quality, inconsistent and incomplete records, and a lack of standardization make it hard to trust the numbers and automate processes. They also undermine AI utilization: fragmented, low-quality data makes AI applications unreliable and difficult to adopt, so the industry’s AI ambitions stall before they can even get started. To help overcome these challenges, Rotate is now able to bring a combined team of strategy consultants and experienced data engineers. In other words, a team that understands both the technology and the business of air cargo.

Ryan Keyrouse, CEO of Rotate, on what drove the decision:

“The air cargo industry is excited about AI, and we want to help enable that. Over 15 years we’ve received enormous amounts of data — with all the quality issues that come with it — and that has made us very good at fixing them. Now we want to fix those issues at the source. We didn’t see anyone specifically helping air cargo do that, which is why we launched Rotate Data Services last year. Acquiring DBC allows us to better support the industry to realize the value of its investments in data and technology.”

Tom Schummer, Managing Partner of Data Build Company, explains what joining Rotate means for DBC:

“DBC is helping global firms across industries make sense of their data. It has always started with their business goals in mind  where is the value? To then help to define a data strategy, build strong data foundations, and adopt new technology and AI capabilities. We are excited to join Rotate to bring these best practices to air cargo!”
