STARLUX Airlines Becomes First Taiwanese Carrier to Earn Four IATA CEIV Certifications

Share

STARLUX Airlines has made history by becoming the first airline in Taiwan to earn four IATA CEIV certifications, setting a new standard for specialized air cargo services in the region.

The airline has now added the CEIV Live Animals certification to its existing accolades in CEIV Lithium Batteries, CEIV Pharma, and CEIV Fresh—a landmark achievement that highlights its commitment to safety, compliance, and premium logistics capabilities.

Raising the Bar in Animal Transport

Transporting live animals by air requires rigorous safety protocols, adherence to international welfare standards, and specialized handling expertise. STARLUX’s newly awarded CEIV Live Animals certification confirms the airline’s capability to meet these high standards throughout every step of the cargo journey—from acceptance and ground handling to transit and final delivery.

Glenn Chai, CEO of STARLUX Airlines, stated:
“Transporting live animals is exceptionally challenging. We are honoured to be certified by IATA, which validates our processes, team training, and animal care standards. STARLUX will continue to invest in service quality and safety to support customers needing premium cargo solutions.”

What is IATA CEIV Certification?

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) launched the Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) to promote consistency, safety, and global compliance across key cargo sectors. Each CEIV certification ensures airlines follow best practices in handling sensitive shipments, whether it’s live animals, pharmaceuticals, perishables, or hazardous items like lithium batteries.

The CEIV Live Animals certification specifically mandates:

  • Strict environmental controls (temperature, lighting, ventilation)
  • Humane handling and safety protocols
  • Employee training in animal welfare and emergency procedures
  • Compliance with global transport regulations

STARLUX Upgrades Infrastructure and Training

In preparation for CEIV Live Animals certification, STARLUX:

  • Upgraded its transport facilities to meet animal welfare requirements
  • Introduced robust risk management and emergency protocols
  • Trained personnel on global animal welfare regulations and contingency procedures

These actions solidify STARLUX’s reputation as a leader in special cargo operations and ensure cargo shipments receive the same level of care and precision as passenger services.

Leading Taiwan’s Aviation Cargo Market

With all four CEIV certifications under its belt, STARLUX is now the only Taiwanese airline to hold both CEIV Fresh and CEIV Live Animals certifications, reinforcing its leadership in high-value and sensitive cargo transport.

This milestone supports the airline’s broader vision of delivering premium logistics solutions while upholding its core value:
“Safety Is Our Attitude.”
