Royal Jordanian Restores Full Cargo Services to Iraq, Syria

Royal Jordanian Airlines has resumed full cargo flight operations to Iraq and Syria, following a temporary suspension due to regional airspace restrictions.

In a social media post earlier this week, the airline’s Cargo Commercial Director, Khaled Alkhawaldeh, confirmed the restart, announcing that the carrier’s “cargo freighter [is] ready to serve you!” Flights to key Iraqi cities — Baghdad, Erbil, Basra, and Sulaymaniyah — resumed on Wednesday, 25 June, after a pause that lasted until 24 June.

Royal Jordanian had halted all Iraqi services due to heightened regional tensions and associated airspace limitations. With conditions now permitting, the airline has fully reinstated its cargo operations across the country.

The carrier also continues to strengthen its presence in Syria. Passenger services between Amman and Damascus were relaunched on 31 January 2025 with four weekly flights, ramping up to daily operations by April. On 24 June, Royal Jordanian further expanded its Syrian network by launching three weekly flights to Aleppo.

As of this week, Royal Jordanian is operating flights to both Damascus and Aleppo alongside its reinstated services to Iraq, signalling a return to full capacity across the region.

The resumption of operations marks a key step in reconnecting Jordan with its regional neighbours and re-establishing important commercial air cargo routes.
