PrimeFlight Cargo Selected by Alaska Airlines for LHR Operations

PrimeFlight Cargo has been appointed as the cargo handling agent for Alaska Airlines’ new daily widebody service at London Heathrow Airport (LHR).

The service will connect Seattle (SEA) and London Heathrow, with Alaska Airlines set to launch its daily nonstop route on 21 May 2026.

Full-Service Cargo Handling at Heathrow

PrimeFlight Cargo will support the operation from its X2 Unit at LHR, delivering a full suite of cargo services including:

  • Cargo acceptance
  • Build and break operations
  • Airside transportation support

The company said it will provide end-to-end handling from day one of the new service.

Expanding Presence in Europe

Sascha von Wolfersdorf, Vice President of Operations for PrimeFlight’s Europe division, said the appointment marks another milestone in the growth of the company’s cargo business.

He noted that PrimeFlight’s expanding Heathrow operation is supported by continued investment in people, equipment and infrastructure to meet increasing demand from airline customers.

Building on Established Partnership

PrimeFlight Aviation Services already has a long-standing relationship with Alaska Airlines, providing ground handling services at 11 airports across the United States following its acquisition of GAT.

The company also supports Alaska’s cargo operations at several U.S. locations, including Columbus, Milwaukee, Omaha, Ontario, San Diego and Santa Ana, and will begin cargo handling services at Sacramento in April.

Ian Morgan, Vice President of Cargo at Alaska Airlines, said the airline values working with a partner familiar with its operations and expressed confidence in PrimeFlight’s ability to deliver reliable service at Heathrow.

Supporting Transatlantic Expansion

The appointment supports Alaska Airlines’ expansion into the transatlantic market, with the new Seattle–London route expected to strengthen both passenger and cargo connectivity between the United States and the United Kingdom.

For PrimeFlight Cargo, the agreement further reinforces its position as a growing global cargo handling provider, particularly in key international gateways such as Heathrow.
