Etihad Cargo, the logistics and freight division of Etihad Airways, has unveiled SmartTrack, a premium, real-time shipment tracking service, at Air Cargo Europe 2025 in Munich. The launch marks a significant milestone in air freight innovation, with Etihad becoming the first airline globally to implement a smart-label-based solution offering full, real-time visibility into shipment location and condition.
Developed in collaboration with California-based tech firm Tag-N-Trac, SmartTrack utilizes advanced smart label technology featuring cellular, GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The label captures and transmits live data including geolocation, temperature, humidity, shock, tilt, and light exposure—making it ideal for high-value, sensitive cargo such as pharmaceuticals, electronics, and precision instruments.

The SmartTrack label, designed with sustainability in mind, can operate continuously for up to 30 days and requires no return logistics thanks to its lightweight, low-impact design.
Integrated into Etihad Cargo’s digital platform and mobile app, SmartTrack provides customers with an intuitive interface featuring live tracking maps, milestone alerts, and full access to sensor data. This is backed by the airline’s centralized control tower, which ensures 24/7 monitoring and proactive operational oversight.

The service will be available to customers worldwide starting October 2025, supporting Etihad Cargo’s broader digital transformation agenda focused on innovation, operational excellence, and exceeding evolving customer expectations.
