Avianca Cargo has reaffirmed its dedication to operational excellence by securing recertification under the CEIV Lithium Batteries programme, further solidifying its expertise in the safe transport of lithium batteries and high-value goods.

The Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) certification, awarded by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), is an industry benchmark for the safe handling and transport of lithium batteries, which power products such as electric vehicles, smartphones, and high-tech electronics.

The announcement, made during the CNS Conference in Miami, marks the latest milestone in Avianca Cargo’s ongoing transformation, aimed at aligning services with the evolving needs of global supply chains.

Diogo Elias, CEO of Avianca Cargo said: “Transformation is an ongoing journey, and each milestone reinforces our commitment to excellence.

“Recertification is more than just an achievement – it represents a strategic commitment to delivering lasting benefits for our customers.”

Avianca Cargo has emerged as a regional leader in specialised air freight, having become the first cargo airline in the Americas to achieve four CEIV certifications from IATA.

These include lithium batteries, pharmaceuticals, perishables, and live animals.

The recertification highlights Avianca Cargo’s commitment to stringent safety standards, compliance, and the ability to adapt to the demands of a rapidly evolving air cargo market.
