Bionatur Lowers Cost of Sustainable Cargo Wrap

Share

BioNatur Plastics (BioNatur) has announced that its anaerobic biodegradable and 100% recyclable stretch wrap is now available to U.S. manufacturers and cargo operators. This innovative product is priced similarly to conventional plastic films, as revealed by Chris Paladino, President and Chief Executive Officer, BioNatur Plastics, during the Air Cargo Americas show.

BioNatur’s strategic shift in production process allows shippers and logistics providers to adopt the biodegradable wrap with minimal impact on operating costs. This change ensures compliance with current regulations and future-proofing against stricter international environmental standards, including European Union Scope 2 and 3 emissions reporting and upcoming U.S. disclosure requirements.

Chris Paladino emphasised the significance of matching the cost of conventional stretch wrap, making the sustainable option the obvious choice.

For U.S. manufacturers and cargo operators exporting to the European Union, switching to BioNatur’s stretch wrap offers protection for cargo and reputation. This film performs the same as conventional stretch wrap, remains recyclable in the standard polyethylene recycling stream, and biodegrades significantly faster.

BioNatur stretch wrap biodegrades in anaerobic environments, which encompass most landfills.

The wrap incorporates a one percent load of a proprietary, food-safe, organic additive. This additive attracts anaerobic bacteria, enabling them to digest the plastic polymer without leaving microplastics or harmful residues.

Earlier this year, BioNatur established a European manufacturing partnership. This collaboration ensures local production at price parity with traditional films, ensuring a steady supply of the product to operators across both regions.
