Menzies Aviation has announced a leadership transition with Philipp Joeinig set to step down as Group Chief Executive Officer and Board Member on 31 July. The company confirmed that Ehab Aziz will take on the role of Non-Executive Chairman of the Board, while Hassan El-Houry has been appointed Chief Executive Officer.
Joeinig joined the Menzies Board in 2017 and was named Group CEO in 2020. During his tenure, he played a key role in guiding the business through a period of transformation, delivering growth and strengthening the company’s global position. The Board expressed its appreciation for his leadership and contribution over the past several years.
Ehab Aziz steps into the role of Non-Executive Chairman with more than 25 years of experience at Agility, where he has built and scaled global businesses across multiple sectors. He has led major acquisitions and strategic transactions that generated significant value, helping to grow Agility into a multi-business operator with $13.2 billion in assets across six continents. A Non-Executive Director at Menzies since 2022, Aziz has already contributed to shaping the company’s strategic direction. In his new role, he will focus on governance, long-term strategy and supporting the executive team to drive sustainable performance.
Commenting on his appointment, Aziz said Menzies is well positioned for its next phase of growth, highlighting the strength of its team, strategy and operational foundations. He added that the Board will prioritise long-term direction, strong governance and continued investment in people, customers and markets.
Hassan El-Houry brings more than 20 years of aviation services experience to the CEO role. Prior to Menzies, he led the transformation of National Aviation Services (NAS) from a single operation into a leading aviation services provider across emerging markets. He also played a central role in Agility’s acquisition of Menzies in 2022 and the subsequent integration with NAS, creating the world’s largest aviation services company. Since then, as Executive Chairman, he has overseen strategy and helped deliver significant growth and record financial performance. El-Houry also serves as Chairman of the Aviation Services Association (ASA World).
El-Houry said he is honoured to take on the role of CEO, noting the company’s strong market position and clear growth strategy. He emphasised a continued focus on investing in people, strengthening customer partnerships and delivering high-quality aviation services across Menzies’ global network.
