Alaska Air Group has announced a series of leadership transitions designed to strengthen its operational excellence and people-first culture.
Constance von Muehlen to Retire After 15 Years at Alaska
After nearly 15 years of service, Constance von Muehlen, Chief Operating Officer of Alaska Airlines, will retire in early 2026. Von Muehlen joined the airline in 2011 and became COO in 2021, guiding the carrier through a period of growth, safety advancements, and operational transformation. She will remain in an advisory role until February 2026 to support a smooth transition.
Jason Berry Appointed Chief Operating Officer of Alaska Airlines
Stepping into the COO role is Jason Berry, currently president of Horizon Air and executive vice president of cargo for Alaska Air Group. A 30-year aviation veteran, Berry’s leadership background spans cargo, ground services, and regional operations, with senior roles at Air Canada, Cargolux, and McGee Air Services.
Berry will officially assume the COO position on November 3, 2025, bringing with him a strong track record of operational precision and people-centered leadership.
Andy Schneider to Become CEO and President of Horizon Air
With Berry’s promotion, Andy Schneider will be named CEO and president of Horizon Air. Schneider, a 35-year Alaska Air Group veteran, currently serves as senior vice president of people at Alaska Airlines. She has held key roles in operations and customer service, including vice president of inflight and call center services, as well as senior vice president of people and customer services at Horizon.
Her leadership will focus on sustaining Horizon’s reputation for outstanding regional service while driving the next phase of its growth.
Building a Stronger, Unified Airline
These leadership changes come as Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines progress toward securing a single operating certificate (SOC) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The milestone, expected later this fall, will mark a major step toward integrating the two carriers into a unified mainline operation.
