Singapore Airlines switches cargo handler at Schiphol after operational delays

Singapore Airlines has announced it will move its cargo handling operations at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport to Swissport, ending a partnership of more than five decades with dnata.

The airline confirmed the permanent switch would take effect from 8 September, following disruption at dnata’s new cargo facility at the Dutch hub in July.

The move led to backlogs which forced Singapore Airlines to temporarily transfer operations to Swissport.

In a note to customers, the carrier said: “After more than five decades of partnership with dnata (formerly Aeroground and Aviapartner), this was not a decision we reached easily.

While we recognise the many years of cooperation, the recent challenges we have experienced underscored the need for this transition to Swissport.”

Import cargo flows have already been transferred to Swissport, while export shipments booked on flights departing from 8 September will need to be delivered to its facility.
