FedEx Express has launched its first dedicated Boeing 777 freighter service to Saudi Arabia, becoming the first express logistics company to operate a nonstop route from the West into the Kingdom.
The new service will operate six times weekly, directly connecting the Americas and Europe with Riyadh, before continuing onward to Guangzhou and Shanghai. From Riyadh, shipments will also flow into Northern Gulf markets through FedEx’s integrated regional air and road networks.
This development marks a significant milestone in enhancing trade access for Saudi businesses and SMEs, especially in time-sensitive sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, and high-tech industries.
Supporting Vision 2030 Logistics Ambitions
Awad Al-Sulami, Vice President for Economic Regulations and Cargo at the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), said the new investment reflects:
“The commitment of global partners in helping to increase the competitiveness of our aviation sector, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 strategy to diversify its economy and strengthen its role as a logistics hub.”
The launch strengthens Saudi Arabia’s position as a strategic gateway for global commerce, enhancing its connectivity with key East–West trade corridors while supporting the Kingdom’s ambition to become a world-class logistics hub.
