ASL Airlines Australia is set to expand its dedicated cargo operations across the Tasman Sea with the addition of a second Boeing 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF), as demand for cross-border e-commerce and next-day deliveries continues to rise.
The aircraft, registered MSN 28595, will join the fleet in late July—just over a year after the airline introduced its first 737-800BCF.
Originally delivered by Boeing in 1999 and converted to freighter configuration in 2022, the aircraft offers a 23-tonne payload capacity and lower emissions than older-generation freighters, making it well-suited for modern logistics operations.
In a statement shared via LinkedIn, the airline said: “ASL Airlines Australia is proud to announce the lease of our second Boeing 737-800BCF as we continue to grow our dedicated cargo fleet across Australasia.
“With capacity for 23 tonnes and lower emissions, it’s a perfect fit for the demands of today’s fast-moving logistics landscape.”
The aircraft will operate key routes between Australia and New Zealand, enhancing the airline’s capacity and supporting growing demand in the region’s cargo market.
ASL Airlines Australia, formerly known as Pionair Australia, was acquired by Ireland-based ASL Aviation Holdings in 2023 and subsequently rebranded. Alongside its 737-800BCFs, the airline also operates British Aerospace 146-200 and 146-300 aircraft in cargo configuration.
