WestJet Cargo has announced a significant expansion of its Calgary–Seoul (Incheon International Airport) route, doubling flight frequencies to support increasing cargo and passenger demand between Canada and South Korea.
Starting the week of May 19, 2025, WestJet will operate six flights per week on this transpacific route—up from three—through October 13, 2025. The service will continue to be operated using the airline’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner, delivering a weekly cargo capacity of approximately 130 tons and 480 cubic meters.
The route expansion reflects the carrier’s strategic focus on enhancing connectivity and flexibility for businesses operating across this vital trade corridor.
“Doubling our frequencies is a testament to our commitment to strengthening connections between Canada and South Korea,” said Kirsten de Bruijn, executive vice-president, cargo at WestJet.
“We’re proud to enhance flexibility and capacity, supporting businesses in navigating a dynamic global trade environment.”
Julius Mooney, commercial director, cargo, added:
“This expansion is driven by market demand and designed to provide our partners with greater opportunities for seamless imports and exports. It’s about offering solutions that empower businesses across both regions.”
This development marks a key milestone as WestJet celebrates the first anniversary of launching direct cargo and passenger services between Calgary and Seoul, which began on May 17, 2024.
By bolstering its transpacific network, WestJet Cargo continues to solidify its role as a growing player in North American air cargo and a reliable partner for international trade.
