Fast-growing freight forwarder Scan Global Logistics (SGL) has announced its official entry into the Indian market, launching operations with three new offices in Mumbai, Chennai, and Delhi, and plans for further expansion in the near future.

The company has appointed Vikash Agarwal as CEO for India. Agarwal brings extensive leadership experience, having previously served as managing director for South Asia at AP Moller–Maersk, where he oversaw operations across India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and the Maldives. He also held senior roles at CEVA Logistics.

Strategic Expansion in a High-Growth Market

SGL emphasized that India, the world’s fifth-largest economy with annual GDP growth of 6–7%, represents a crucial market in its global growth strategy. Projections suggest that by 2075, India will become the world’s second-largest economy, highlighting the long-term potential for logistics and supply chain services.

Allan Melgaard, Global CEO of SGL, said:

“It has been a high priority for SGL to establish a presence in India for a long time. We are initially launching operations in three locations, but our ambitions are high, and we plan to open several additional offices within a short time. To participate in India’s rapid development, we see a tremendous opportunity for growth and expansion that will benefit both existing and new customers.”

He added that SGL took a careful approach to entering India, waiting until the right leadership team was in place.

Supporting Multinationals and Local Enterprises

SGL stated it will support multinational companies operating in India as well as Indian enterprises expanding globally, providing tailored solutions that align with the country’s dynamic economic growth.

The move follows a period of rapid international expansion for SGL, which recently strengthened its network through acquisitions including Blu Brasil (Brazil), Foppiani Shipping & Logistics (Italy), and ITN Logistics (Canada).

The company said India represents a strategic next step in its mission to build a strong, agile, and customer-focused global logistics network.
