SATS Ltd. Supports Jazeera Airways Amid Operational Disruption
SATS Ltd. is supporting cargo operations for Jazeera Airways at King Fahd International Airport (Dammam), as the airline implements a cross-border logistics model to maintain connectivity with Kuwait.
The initiative follows the temporary closure of Kuwait International Airport, prompting Jazeera Airways to establish alternative air-land routes via Saudi Arabia.
Dual-Base Operations to Maintain Connectivity
Jazeera Airways has launched a dual-base operational model using:
- Dammam (DMM) – supported by SATS’ 60,000 sqm cargo facility
- Qaisumah–Hafar Al-Batin International Airport (AQI)
SATS began handling Jazeera’s cargo operations in Dammam on 26 March 2026, managing shipments transported onward to Kuwait via land.
The AQI base had already commenced operations earlier, on 11 March 2026, forming part of a coordinated logistics network.
Handling Essential Cargo Flows
Under the agreement, SATS is providing full cargo handling services for Jazeera’s Airbus A320neo operations from Dammam.
Shipments include:
- General cargo
- Perishables such as frozen meat, fruits and vegetables
- Critical supplies including pharmaceuticals and spare parts
These goods are transported by road into Kuwait, ensuring continuity of supply during the disruption.
Project Baraka: A Cross-Border Lifeline
The operation forms part of Project Baraka, Jazeera Airways’ cross-border logistics strategy designed to support Kuwait during the ongoing regional situation.
Through this model, the airline has rapidly scaled operations, offering:
- 27 destinations
- Over 1,500 flights
- Around 450,000 seats
- Approximately 2 million tonnes of cargo capacity (through mid-May 2026)
Leadership Perspective
Bob Chi, CEO of SATS APAC Gateway Services, said:
“Through the movement of passengers and essential cargo such as food, pharmaceutical supplies, and critical spare parts, we hope to help maintain vital air cargo connectivity into Kuwait during this challenging period.”
He added that SATS will leverage its global network across 27 countries to minimise disruption and support evolving logistics needs.
Barathan Pasupathi, CEO of Jazeera Airways, emphasised the importance of the partnership:
“Our partnership with SATS is a critical part of this effort, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of essential cargo… reinforcing a lifeline for the community and the wider economy.”
Ensuring Supply Chain Continuity
The collaboration highlights how airlines and logistics providers are adapting rapidly to geopolitical disruptions by deploying flexible, cross-border logistics solutions.
By combining air cargo operations with overland transport, SATS and Jazeera Airways are maintaining essential supply chains and supporting economic resilience during a period of uncertainty.
