Resonia Ltd., a key player in India’s power transmission infrastructure industry, has signed an MoU with Amber Wings—the UAV manufacturing arm of Ubifly Technologies—to form a strategic Joint Venture (JV). Announced at the Dubai Airshow 2025, the partnership aims to introduce advanced heavy-lift drone systems into India’s power EPC ecosystem, replacing slow and labour-intensive logistics with high-capacity autonomous aerial solutions.
The collaboration follows a successful pilot on the Khavda IV C Transmission Project, where Amber Wings’ M50 drones, each capable of transporting 50 kg per sortie, moved up to four tonnes of materials daily across tough terrain. The pilot showcased how heavy-lift drones can cut manual effort, improve worker safety, and speed up project execution in remote or high-risk locations.
With the MoU now in place, the JV will focus on developing next-generation drones with a payload capacity of 200 kg. Plans include integrating cooperative swarm technology, advanced battery systems, and automated tower-erection capabilities. These innovations are aimed at tackling one of the power EPC sector’s largest challenges—last-mile material delivery.
India’s power EPC market, valued at USD 22.4 billion and expected to reach USD 39.1 billion by 2033, is under growing pressure to deliver projects that are faster, safer, and more resilient. Resonia says drone-based logistics will be essential in meeting these demands.
Arun Sharma, CEO of Resonia, called the JV a major step forward. “By integrating heavy-lift drone technology, Resonia is enhancing efficiency and safety on the Khavda IV C Transmission Project while laying the foundation for next-generation mechanisation across the sector. This milestone reaffirms our commitment to breakthrough innovation and strengthens our ability to deliver complex projects with greater speed, precision, and excellence,” he said.
Prof. Satya Chakravarthy, Founder of Ubifly Technologies and CTO of Amber Wings, said the collaboration highlights India’s readiness to embrace advanced aerial systems for industrial applications. “This synchronised effort will accelerate development and deployment, ensuring practical impact. We are excited about the potential use cases our drone platform can enable.”
Beyond technology, the JV also focuses on workforce development. A key initiative is training EPC site workers to become certified drone operators, ensuring an inclusive transition to automation and creating a skilled, future-ready labour ecosystem.
With strong pilot results and an ambitious technology roadmap, Resonia and Amber Wings plan to build a drone-first material-movement ecosystem for India’s power infrastructure—one that emphasises safety, speed, and technological self-reliance as the nation accelerates its grid expansion.
