Northern Air Cargo to launch Seattle–Anchorage freighter service

All-cargo carrier Northern Air Cargo (NAC) is set to launch a new direct cargo route between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Anchorage from early October.

The service, operated with a Boeing 737-800 freighter, will run three times a week, departing Seattle on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and arriving in Alaska the following morning.

NAC said the new route underlines its commitment to supporting the state’s economy and communities by strengthening links between the Pacific Northwest and rural Alaska.

“Dependable, same-day access to rural Alaska keeps grocery shelves stocked, supports healthcare facilities, and delivers time-sensitive construction materials as well as other critical supplies,” the airline said.

From Anchorage, cargo flown from Seattle will connect with NAC’s existing intra-Alaska network. Communities such as Nome and Kotzebue could receive shipments within 12 hours, while freight to Utqiagvik and Bethel will take around 18 hours.

The route will also serve exporters by transporting fresh produce, notably seafood, to markets in the Pacific Northwest. NAC said cold chain shipments would be safeguarded through real-time tracking and eco-friendly insulation systems.

Dave Karp, president of NAC, described the new service as “a vital resource for businesses and communities,” adding: “We’re offering a tool for customers to partner with an experienced Alaskan cargo carrier that puts service first.”
