Menzies World Cargo has officially launched operations at Oslo Airport (Gardermoen), following the company’s acquisition of Spirit on September 1. The move marks a significant expansion of cargo handling capacity at Norway’s busiest airport.
Strengthening Cargo Services at Norway’s Gateway
Eva Beate Lande, Head of Cargo at Avinor, welcomed the development:
“We are very pleased that Menzies World Cargo is now becoming part of the Oslo Airport community. Their establishment strengthens both capacity and services within cargo, providing airlines and businesses with an even stronger foundation for further growth.”
By taking over Spirit’s long-standing cargo and ground services operations, Menzies adds a new dimension to its existing ground handling presence at Gardermoen.
Supporting Norwegian Exports and Imports
Oslo Airport plays a pivotal role as Norway’s primary hub for exports and imports, particularly in the seafood sector, as well as for manufacturing and industrial goods.
Lande added:
“A broad and competitive cargo offering is crucial for exporters. Menzies World Cargo will help strengthen this position even further.”
Global Expertise, Local Impact
As an international player with an extensive global network, Menzies World Cargo’s entry into Oslo is expected to bring:
- Expanded capacity for freighter and belly cargo operations
- Enhanced service quality for airlines and logistics partners
- Potential long-term growth momentum for Norway’s air cargo industry
This development reinforces Oslo Airport’s position as a Northern European logistics hub, underpinning Avinor’s strategy to support trade growth and strengthen connectivity for Norwegian businesses.
