Logiztik Alliance Colombia and LATAM Cargo Manage 574.8 Tons of CO₂ Through SAF and Conservation Projects

Share

Logiztik Alliance Colombia, in collaboration with the LATAM Group, has successfully managed 574.8 tons of CO₂ emissions associated with Logiztik’s exports transported by LATAM Cargo subsidiaries during 2024.

This milestone was achieved through a combination of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) use—under Book & Claim and Mass Balance methodologies—and carbon offsetting via LATAM’s “1+1: Offset to Conserve” program.

In total, 566.89 tons of CO₂ were offset through conservation projects in South America, while the remainder was reduced directly through SAF use. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, this represents the annual emissions of approximately 125 cars.

Tangible Climate Action Through Collaboration

The initiative reflects Logiztik Alliance’s commitment to responsible logistics operations and marks a significant step in decarbonizing air freight across Latin America. In total, the company managed approximately 15% of its 2024 export emissions from Colombia in partnership with LATAM Cargo Group.

Cristina Oñate, Vice President of Sustainability and Product at LATAM Cargo Group, said:

“Together with Logiztik Alliance, we share the conviction that managing industry emissions requires multiple solutions.
This collaboration, combining strategic SAF use with high-impact conservation projects, is a concrete example of how, working alongside our clients, we can advance measurable actions toward net-zero emissions by 2050 and promote air logistics that integrate climate change management across South America.”

Jaime Muñoz, General Manager of Logiztik Alliance Colombia, added:

“In a context where the market and international regulations demand greater environmental responsibility, acting with commitment is not only a duty but also a strategic necessity.
This partnership with LATAM allows us to demonstrate that efficiency, innovation, and climate action can go hand in hand.
We invite our clients to join these initiatives to multiply the positive impact.”

Sustainable Aviation Fuel and Conservation Efforts

The Sustainable Aviation Fuel used in the program was Neste MY SAF, produced from animal fat residues and blended with conventional jet fuel. This blend enables up to a 74% reduction in lifecycle CO₂ emissions compared with fossil-based aviation fuels.

Additionally, the offset contribution supported CO2Bio, an internationally certified project under the BioCarbon Standard, recognized for its high environmental and social value in Colombia. The project helps protect floodplain savannas in the Orinoquía region, contributing to biodiversity conservation and carbon sequestration.

Commitment to a Greener Supply Chain

Through this initiative, Logiztik Alliance and LATAM Cargo Group reaffirm their shared commitment to reducing emissions, supporting renewable fuels, and driving climate-positive logistics in Latin America—paving the way toward a more sustainable air cargo industry.
