Intradco Global, the world’s leading specialist in live animal air transport and part of the Chapman Freeborn Group, has successfully completed the shipment of 1,200 breeding pigs from Denmark to the Philippines aboard a full chartered Boeing 747-400F freighter in July.

The animals, destined for the end-client’s farm in the Philippines, will be used for breeding and genetic multiplication. As with all Intradco Global projects, animal welfare was the top priority throughout the operation.

Luca Mario Leisi, Account Manager – Live Animal at Intradco Global, explained:
“We created custom-built wooden transport crates, each fitted with extra-large watering systems to ensure comfort and welfare during the long-haul flight. Specialised loading equipment, including our purpose-built pig lift, enabled the pigs to be transferred smoothly and safely into their crates—avoiding steep ramps and minimizing stress.”

Once onboard, the pigs’ welfare was continuously monitored by an Intradco Global specialist alongside a client representative, ensuring close coordination between handlers and crew.

The complex shipment was the result of three months of preparation, including quarantine measures, dietary adjustments, and extensive coordination with multiple stakeholders.

Despite a last-minute change of departure airport, Intradco Global’s team swiftly reconfigured the operation to meet the client’s schedule without compromising animal care.

Mr. Leisi added:
“This project is a testament to our world-leading expertise in large-scale live animal transport by air. Through robust risk management and meticulous planning, we ensured the safe and seamless delivery of these animals.”

With decades of experience, Intradco Global is trusted worldwide by zoos, aquariums, farms, and conservation organizations to transport animals safely, securely, and with the highest welfare standards.
