iGA Istanbul Airport has signed a Sister Airport Agreement with Sydney Airport (SYD), marking a new milestone in its efforts to expand international collaboration and enhance Türkiye’s touristic, commercial, and cultural presence on the global stage.

The partnership aims to increase passenger and cargo traffic between Istanbul and Sydney, foster the development of new air services, and jointly promote both destinations through coordinated marketing and route development initiatives.

Under the terms of the agreement, the two airports will:

Hold annual management meetings and organize workshops or seminars as needed.

Exchange non-commercially sensitive data and best practices to encourage knowledge sharing.

Promote new and additional air services between Türkiye and Australia.

Conduct joint marketing campaigns to raise the visibility of both Istanbul and Sydney as global travel and trade hubs.

This collaboration aligns with iGA Istanbul Airport’s vision of sustainable growth and service excellence, reinforcing its status as the hub with the highest number of destinations served worldwide.

“The Sister Airport Agreement with Sydney Airport reflects our commitment to building strong international partnerships that drive tourism, trade, and cultural exchange,” said an iGA spokesperson. “By joining forces with one of Australia’s leading gateways, we are deepening the bridge between two continents and contributing to stronger global connectivity.”

The new partnership also strengthens Türkiye’s position in the Australian market, creating opportunities for increased bilateral tourism and trade flows between the two countries.

Following the Sister Airport Agreement signed in June with Chicago O’Hare International Airport (CDA) in the United States, this latest collaboration with Sydney Airport becomes the tenth such partnership within iGA Istanbul Airport’s international network.

iGA Istanbul Airport has also established Sister Airport agreements with Incheon International Airport (South Korea), Capital Airports Holding, Shanghai Airport Authority, and Sichuan Provincial Airport Group (China), Copenhagen Airport (Denmark), Airports of Thailand, and Airports Corporation of Vietnam, demonstrating its strong commitment to global cooperation and excellence.
