flydubai has signed a long-term agreement with Unilode Aviation Solutions to provide fully outsourced Unit Load Device (ULD) management as the airline expands its passenger and cargo operations and prepares for future fleet growth.
Under the agreement, Unilode will manage flydubai’s ULD requirements across both passenger and cargo freighter operations. The programme will cover ULD supply, maintenance and repair, fleet planning, repositioning and digital asset tracking, supported by Unilode’s global maintenance and logistics network.
The partnership comes as flydubai prepares to introduce dedicated freighter operations and expand its widebody capabilities with the future arrival of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The agreement will provide the airline with a scalable ULD solution designed to improve equipment availability, visibility and utilisation across its growing network.
Since launching in 2009, flydubai has developed a network of more than 125 destinations across 56 countries, supporting Dubai’s role as a major global aviation and trade hub. As the airline continues to develop its cargo offering, efficient management of cargo equipment will become increasingly important to maintaining reliable and cost-effective operations.
Through its digital tracking technology and global infrastructure, Unilode will help flydubai monitor its ULD fleet, optimise asset utilisation and ensure equipment is positioned where it is needed. The outsourced approach will also allow the airline to simplify day-to-day ULD management while maintaining flexibility as its fleet and cargo network grow.
Mohamed Hassan, Senior Vice President of Airport Services & Cargo at flydubai, said: “As flydubai continues to progress, having trusted partners that can scale alongside us is essential. This partnership with Unilode supports our ongoing investment in fleet, network and cargo capabilities while helping us maintain the efficiency and flexibility required to serve our customers and support Dubai’s position as a global aviation and trade hub.”
Rashed Albashri, Vice President of Cargo at flydubai, added: “We have a longstanding commitment to investing in the latest technologies and adopting best practices. As we introduce our dedicated freighter operations and prepare for our future Boeing 787 passenger and cargo services, improving the visibility and availability of our cargo equipment becomes increasingly important.”
Ross Marino, Chief Executive Officer of Unilode Aviation Solutions, said the company was pleased to welcome flydubai to its customer portfolio.
He added that the agreement would provide the airline with the flexibility, visibility and operational resilience required as it expands its passenger network, cargo operations and future fleet.
