FedEx has launched operations at a new automated sorting facility in Tallinn, boosting Estonia’s access to global trade routes.

Located in the airport’s new cargo area, the terminal is the first on the southern side of the Airport City business complex.

It links directly to FedEx’s international air network, giving Estonian businesses faster access to more than 220 markets worldwide.

The site, which combines ground and air services, can handle up to 3,000 parcels an hour thanks to advanced scanning and sorting technology.

It also has direct airside access, with a daily FedEx flight connecting Tallinn to Paris Roissy-Charles de Gaulle – the company’s largest European hub and a gateway to North America and Asia.

Mariusz Mik, vice-president of ground operations for Nordics and Eastern Europe at FedEx Europe said: “With this investment, we are helping Estonian companies, particularly in the fast-growing e-commerce sector, compete internationally.”

The new warehouse offers three times the space of its predecessor and features 1,200 square metres of office facilities.

FedEx said the development is designed to meet both current demand and the country’s future logistics needs, supporting innovation and the wider economy.
