Emirates SkyCargo is strengthening the global reach of British exports, transporting a diverse range of goods—from fresh produce and pharmaceuticals to advanced engineering components—across its international network.
The carrier moved more than 57,000 tonnes of exports from the UK during FY 2025–26, marking an 11% increase compared with the previous financial year. Growth has continued into 2026, with UK export volumes rising 7% between April and June versus the same period last year.
Khawla Abdulla, Vice President Cargo Commercial Europe at Emirates SkyCargo, said the growth highlights the importance of reliable global logistics: “The strong increase in exports from the UK reflects the growing need for fast, efficient and well-connected supply chains to support international trade.
“Through our hub in Dubai and specialised cargo solutions, we connect UK businesses and regional production centres to high-growth markets across the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Australasia, helping industries expand their global reach.”
Operating more than 140 weekly widebody flights from eight UK gateways—including London Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow—Emirates SkyCargo continues to play a key role in supporting British exports across multiple sectors.
Aerospace and advanced technology drive growth
The UK’s aerospace and engineering sector remains a major contributor to export volumes. Between January and June 2026, Emirates SkyCargo transported more than 570 tonnes of aircraft parts and components to global markets.
Demand for its Aircraft on Ground (AOG) service surged by over 300% year-on-year during the same period, underlining the need for rapid-response logistics in aviation.
In addition, the carrier handled high-value technology shipments, including data centre equipment and server infrastructure, primarily originating from key manufacturing hubs around Manchester and London.
Life sciences exports continue to expand
Emirates SkyCargo has also seen strong demand from the UK’s life sciences sector. In the first half of 2026, the airline transported more than 1,600 tonnes of pharmaceuticals, along with over 26 tonnes of clinical trial materials.
Newcastle has emerged as a key gateway for pharmaceutical exports, supporting the Northeast’s growing life sciences cluster. With GDP-certified infrastructure and specialised temperature-controlled solutions, the carrier ensures the safe and efficient movement of sensitive medical shipments worldwide.
Perishables showcase the best of British produce
British food exports have also performed strongly, with Emirates SkyCargo supporting farmers and producers in reaching international markets.
During the first half of 2026, the airline transported over 1,500 tonnes of Scottish shellfish and more than 1,200 tonnes of smoked salmon globally. Additionally, over 1,000 tonnes of food products were shipped to the UAE alone, including 250 tonnes of strawberries and more than 150 tonnes of cheese.
Shipments are largely routed through Glasgow and Edinburgh, enabling faster delivery and maintaining product freshness. Emirates SkyCargo’s dedicated perishables solution ensures optimal handling for items such as seafood, meat and fresh produce.
Supporting diverse sectors and global trade
Beyond its core verticals, Emirates SkyCargo also facilitates the transport of premium automobiles, fine art and consumer goods. Its Emirates Courier Express service further supports UK retailers and businesses with door-to-door cross-border delivery solutions.
In addition to commercial operations, the carrier continues to support environmental initiatives. Recently, Emirates SkyCargo partnered with Dogs 4 Wildlife to transport conservation dogs from the UK to Zimbabwe’s Matusadona National Park, where they assist rangers in anti-poaching efforts.
