Emirates SkyCargo has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Astral Aviation to enhance cargo connectivity between Africa and global markets. The partnership aims to expand trade opportunities by leveraging both carriers’ networks and expertise in handling sensitive cargo.
Astral Aviation operates scheduled and ad hoc charter services to 50 destinations across Africa, while Emirates SkyCargo connects over 145 destinations worldwide. This collaboration underscores Africa’s growing role in international trade, with a focus on key exports like fresh produce and pharmaceuticals.
The MoU was signed at Air Cargo Africa by Badr Abbas, Emirates SkyCargo’s Divisional Senior Vice President, and Sanjeev Gadhia, CEO of Astral Aviation. Under the agreement, the two airlines will work together to expand interline cargo options and establish block space agreements, improving access for African businesses to global markets.
Badr Abbas highlighted the continent’s economic growth potential, stating: “With 11 of the world’s 20 fastest-growing economies, Africa presents immense opportunities. Our partnership with Astral Aviation strengthens our commitment to supporting businesses in the region, providing reliable and efficient global trade solutions.”
Sanjeev Gadhia added: “This collaboration builds on our 15-year commercial relationship and reinforces our shared vision of enhancing air cargo services in Africa. Together, we will drive innovation and strengthen trade connectivity across the world.”
