EFW and Confity Capital Partner to Bring Airbus A330 Freighter Conversions to India
Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW), Airbus’ centre of excellence for freighter conversions, has signed a multi-aircraft agreement with UAE-based Confity Capital Partners to supply Airbus A330 Passenger-to-Freighter (P2F) aircraft.
The new partnership is focused on introducing EFW’s widebody P2F solutions to the rapidly expanding Indian air cargo market, with plans to also serve emerging markets globally.
Conversions under the agreement will commence from late 2025 at EFW’s headquarters in Dresden, Germany, and across its global network of partner facilities.
Jet Freight Logistics, a listed Mumbai-based cargo services provider, will be the launch customer — becoming the first Indian cargo airline to operate the widebody Airbus P2F platform.
Lee London, SVP Marketing and Sales at EFW, commented:
“Driven by e-commerce, rising exports, and infrastructure upgrades, India’s air cargo market is on a strong growth trajectory. Our Airbus P2F programmes will support this momentum by offering proven, next-generation freighter solutions.”
Sia Ashok, Managing Partner at Confity Capital, added:
“This collaboration is a strategic step forward in building future-ready cargo infrastructure. The A330 platform fits perfectly with our strategy, offering operational versatility and strong long-term asset value.”
The deal follows EFW’s successful rollout of its A321P2F and A320P2F models in India in 2022, marking a strategic expansion into the widebody segment.
The Airbus A330P2F programme offers two variants:
-
A330-200P2F: Payload up to 60 tonnes, range of over 7,700 km.
-
A330-300P2F: Payload up to 62 tonnes and up to 23% more containerised volume compared to other freighters in its class, offering ~526m³ of cargo space.
Amit Baum, Senior Partner at Confity, noted:
“Partnering with EFW significantly de-risks the technical aspects of the project. Their track record gives us confidence as we plan further collaborations.”
The announcement signals another strong vote of confidence in India’s cargo market, which continues to grow in importance as a global logistics hub.
