Cind AB and IAG Cargo Introduce AI-Powered CargoSpect System at London Heathrow

Share

Cind AB, a leading provider of computer vision software, has partnered with IAG Cargo, the cargo division of International Airlines Group, to launch its advanced camera-based AI system, CargoSpect, at IAG Cargo’s London Heathrow facility. This marks the first deployment of the system in the United Kingdom.

CargoSpect is a fully automated scanning solution designed to capture critical cargo data such as dimensions and weight in real time. Featuring a setup of ten cameras, the system is capable of collecting up to 500 measurements per hour. This innovation transforms cargo handling by optimizing space utilization, automating data collection, and enhancing sustainability through improved load efficiency. Its motion-enabled technology allows dynamic measurements at speeds of up to seven kilometers per hour, eliminating the need to stop or unload pallets, as cargo moves through the system seamlessly.

Cind’s mission is to modernize the logistics industry with digital tools that extract vital freight information. The addition of artificial intelligence allows for insights that go beyond human capabilities. For example, the system can read printed instructions such as “do not stack” from cargo labels. It also includes a non-stackable pallet detection feature, using trained models and three-dimensional imaging to further streamline cargo operations and capture as much relevant data as possible.

Adam Carson, Chief Operations Officer at IAG Cargo, said, “The integration of artificial intelligence technologies will provide our teams with more accurate real-time information, empowering smarter logistics decisions. This will lead to improved efficiency and enhanced service quality for our customers.”

Marcus Schelin, Chief Executive Officer of Cind AB, added, “Partnering with a company as respected as IAG Cargo is a significant milestone for us. We are thrilled to deploy our CargoSpect solution at their Heathrow terminal. This collaboration represents a meaningful step toward transforming the cargo logistics sector.”

Schelin also emphasized the importance of accurate dimensioning in cargo logistics. “With the CargoSpect system, IAG Cargo can not only measure cargo volumes precisely but also collect a wide range of data that contributes to enhanced logistics performance and increased security.”
