Cathay Pacific and SITA have announced a landmark agreement to significantly enhance network bandwidth across 51 global airports, increasing capacity by up to five times while maintaining cost efficiency. This initiative supports Cathay Pacific’s strategic shift toward adopting Cloud applications while ensuring optimal performance for legacy systems.
Cathay Pacific, an early adopter of SITA’s original Connect solution, will now transition to the newly launched SITA Connect Go service, which leverages dual Internet connectivity to deliver bandwidth of up to 300 Mbps. The project includes a 12-month design, build, test, and implementation phase expected to conclude by early Q2 2025.
The enhanced bandwidth will improve operational efficiency, scalability, and connectivity, facilitating the airline’s move to Cloud-based systems without compromising legacy applications. SITA Connect Go will use pre-connected APH-V infrastructure for rapid deployment, minimizing downtime and disruptions.
“This agreement with Cathay Pacific highlights our ability to help airlines maximize their network infrastructure, a critical factor for operational success,” said Sumesh Patel, SITA Asia Pacific President. He emphasized the scalable and secure SD-WAN platform as a solution to the growing bandwidth needs in APAC’s airline and airport networks.
Rajeev Nair, General Manager – IT Infrastructure and Security at Cathay Pacific, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that the partnership will enhance network capacity cost-effectively, enabling the airline to focus on delivering an optimal passenger experience.
With flexible packaging and customizable options, SITA Connect Go ensures Cathay Pacific can tailor its connectivity needs while achieving improved performance globally. The full implementation is set to be operational across all locations by mid-2025.
