Mexican cargo airline Awesome Cargo has named Carlos Herrera as its new managing director, tasking him with driving growth, improving efficiency and enhancing service performance.
Herrera brings more than 27 years of experience in the aviation industry, having held senior leadership roles across cargo and logistics.
In a statement announcing the appointment, Awesome Cargo said: “In his new capacity as managing director, he will be responsible for overseeing the airline’s operations and driving forward strategies aimed at growth, efficiency and service excellence.”
Herrera previously served as chief commercial officer at Aerocharter, a Mexico-based ground handler that provides air services through VivaAerobus’s domestic and international network.
His career also includes more than a decade at Mas Air, where he rose to the role of commercial manager, as well as positions with Volaris, Aeromexico Cargo, ECS Group and the digital booking platform Logikoss.
Awesome Cargo, which launched operations in 2023, operates dedicated freighter services from its base at Felipe Ángeles International Airport near Mexico City.
