Atlas Air Worldwide Places Landmark Order for Airbus A350F

Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings has placed a firm order for 20 Airbus A350F freighters, marking the largest single order for the next-generation cargo aircraft to date and positioning Atlas as the biggest customer of the type.

The order represents a major step in Atlas Air’s fleet modernisation strategy, reinforcing its position as a leading outsourced aviation logistics provider serving global operators across multiple business models.

Strengthening Fleet with Next-Generation Freighter

The A350F will be deployed to support Atlas Air’s future growth, offering enhanced payload capacity, extended range and improved fuel efficiency compared to previous-generation widebody freighters.

Michael Steen, Chief Executive Officer of Atlas Air Worldwide, said the order reflects the company’s commitment to operating one of the most modern and efficient freighter fleets in the industry.

He highlighted the aircraft’s performance, reliability and sustainability advantages, as well as the strategic value of adding Airbus and Rolls-Royce to Atlas’ supplier base.

Airbus Expands Presence in the Freighter Market

For Airbus, the agreement marks a significant milestone in the commercialisation of the A350F programme, particularly in the United States market.

Lars Wagner, CEO of Commercial Aircraft at Airbus, said Atlas Air’s selection of the A350F underscores its position as a next-generation freighter designed to meet the evolving needs of global cargo operators.

Designed for Efficiency and Capacity

The Airbus A350F features the largest main deck cargo door in the industry, with its fuselage optimised to accommodate standard pallets and containers, enhancing operational efficiency.

As demand for modern, fuel-efficient freighters continues to grow, the aircraft is expected to play a key role in supporting long-haul cargo operations while contributing to lower emissions and improved operating economics.

Supporting Long-Term Growth Strategy

The order aligns with Atlas Air Worldwide’s broader strategy to expand capacity, diversify its fleet and meet increasing global demand for air cargo services.

By securing early delivery positions for the A350F, the company is positioning itself to capitalise on future market opportunities while maintaining flexibility across its global operations.
