Asiana Airlines Appoints ECS Group as Exclusive Global GSSA for Belly Cargo Operations

Asiana Airlines has selected ECS Group as its exclusive global General Sales and Service Agent (GSSA) to manage the carrier’s international belly cargo operations, marking a pivotal step in its logistics strategy following the divestment of its freighter fleet.

Effective August 1, 2025, ECS Group oversees sales, reservations, customer service, and ground handling coordination across 33 key locations in nine countries, including Europe, the Americas, China, Japan, and Southeast Asia.

Strategic Collaboration for Global Cargo Growth

With operations spanning over 60 countries and partnerships with more than 100 airlines worldwide, ECS Group brings the scale, expertise, and operational excellence required to enhance Asiana’s cargo performance.

Asiana Airlines’ Belly Cargo Focus

Following its transition to a fully belly cargo model, Asiana Airlines now leverages the underfloor cargo capacity of its passenger aircraft, including the Airbus A350-900, which can carry up to 18 tons of cargo per flight.

The airline is strategically focused on time-critical and high-demand commodities, including:

  • Semiconductor components
  • Fresh food shipments
  • Small express cargo
