Ascend Airways, a UK-based ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) and charter airline, has taken delivery of its fifth aircraft, a Boeing 737-8 MAX. As part of Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI provider, the airline has also secured its Canadian Foreign Air Operator Certificate (FAOC), marking another major milestone in its rapid expansion.

The newly added aircraft, registered as G-ULIT, received its Certificate of Airworthiness on June 3, 2025, and will be deployed immediately on a long-term wet lease contract. This marks the fourth Boeing 737-8 MAX in Ascend Airways’ growing fleet.

“I want to thank the entire team at Ascend Airways for their hard work and dedication in adding three aircraft over the past two months,” said Alastair Willson, CEO of Ascend Airways. “Our expanding fleet positions us to meet the increasing demand for dependable ACMI services in the UK and international markets, using the newest generation of aircraft.”

Ascend Airways began 2025 with just two aircraft and has since expanded to five. The airline plans to add more Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft in the coming months, aiming to operate a total of eight by year-end.

The Boeing 737-8 MAX supports Ascend Airways’ commitment to offering modern, fuel-efficient aircraft. Compared to earlier models, the MAX reduces CO2 emissions by 20 percent and has a 40 percent lower noise footprint, helping customers achieve more sustainable operations.

In addition to fleet growth, Ascend Airways has received its Canadian FAOC, allowing the airline to begin ACMI operations in Canada. This approval comes ahead of the busy winter travel season, during which Ascend Airways will have availability on its Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft.

The airline is also in the final stages of securing FAA Part 129 certification, which will authorize ACMI and charter flights to the United States. Additionally, it is in the process of obtaining IOSA certification to further enhance safety and compliance standards.
