Aramex has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GMR Airports Limited (GAL) to strengthen its logistics capabilities across GMR-operated airports in India and support the seamless movement of international shipments for businesses and MSMEs involved in import and export activities.
The agreement will explore opportunities to enhance Aramex’s operational infrastructure at GMR Airports’ express cargo terminals, including dedicated truck docks, screening systems and dedicated cargo space. The proposed developments will be subject to terms and conditions to be agreed under a definitive agreement.
The infrastructure is expected to support Aramex in developing integrated customs clearance capabilities for multiple international products, helping improve operational efficiency and enable smoother cargo processing.
The MoU was signed at GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo (GHAC) in Hyderabad as part of Aramex’s ongoing efforts to expand its logistics infrastructure and strengthen cross-border trade capabilities in India.
As part of the collaboration, GAL will maintain the identified infrastructure at the express cargo terminal, subject to the definitive agreement. The two companies are also exploring the development of a warehousing facility close to the terminal, with dedicated access through an airside corridor.
GAL may also facilitate introductions and engagement with relevant authorities, while sharing its technical expertise and experience where appropriate under the MoU.
The proposed infrastructure is expected to strengthen logistics capabilities for businesses handling international trade, with a particular focus on connectivity between India and the GCC region. Aramex and GAL are targeting development of the proposed infrastructure by March 2027, subject to the progress of their discussions and required agreements.
Amadou Diallo, Group CEO of Aramex, said the company’s focus on India extends beyond expanding its footprint to developing the infrastructure and capabilities required to support the country’s growing role in global trade.
Veena Bhogaonkar, Managing Director of Aramex India, said the partnership will help strengthen the company’s infrastructure and operational capabilities across GMR-operated airports, supporting more efficient express and freight services for businesses and MSMEs.
Abbas Panju, Regional CEO GCC and Indian Subcontinent, Aramex, highlighted India’s strategic importance to the company, adding that the collaboration with GAL will help enhance Aramex’s capabilities through key international gateways and support businesses connecting with global markets.
The companies will continue discussions on potential investments, project timelines and other elements of the proposed development, with further details to be agreed jointly.
