American Airlines supports relief efforts following Venezuela earthquakes

Share

American Airlines has launched a fundraising campaign to support communities affected by the recent earthquakes in Venezuela, working with humanitarian organisations to provide emergency assistance to those impacted.

The airline is encouraging customers and members of its AAdvantage loyalty programme to donate money or airline miles to support relief efforts in Caracas, La Guaira and surrounding areas following the earthquakes.

American Airlines said it is working alongside its non-profit partners as emergency response teams mobilise to deliver humanitarian aid to affected communities.

Donations to support emergency response

The airline is partnering with the American Red Cross to raise funds for emergency relief operations in Venezuela.

AAdvantage members who donate at least US$25 to the American Red Cross will receive 10 bonus AAdvantage miles for every dollar donated, providing an additional incentive to support the appeal.

The funds will help the humanitarian organisation provide emergency assistance to people affected by the earthquakes.

Support for children and families

Customers can also contribute through UNICEF’s Change for Good programme, which supports the organisation’s emergency response teams working on the ground in Venezuela.

The programme is helping deliver essential aid and lifesaving assistance to children and families impacted by the disaster.

Donating airline miles

In addition to financial contributions, American Airlines is encouraging AAdvantage members to donate airline miles to support humanitarian organisations involved in the relief effort.

Miles donated through the airline’s Miles for Social Good programme enable the American Red Cross, UNICEF and other charitable organisations to transport aid workers and deliver critical assistance to disaster-affected communities.

The airline said the initiative will help relief organisations expand their recovery operations as emergency response efforts continue across the affected regions of Venezuela.
