The Cathay Group has announced the appointment of Guy Bradley, JP, as its new Chair, effective 13 May 2026, following the decision of current Chair Patrick Healy to step down and retire from the Swire Group later that month.
The Group confirmed that Healy will relinquish his role as Chair of the Board on 13 May 2026, before formally retiring from the Swire Group on 31 May 2026, bringing to a close a career spanning more than 30 years with the organisation. The Cathay Group Board of Directors approved Bradley’s appointment, which will take effect on the same date.
Bradley currently serves as Chairman of Swire Pacific and is a Director of Cathay Pacific Airways. Commenting on the leadership transition, he paid tribute to Healy’s six-year tenure as Chair, highlighting his strong leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under Healy’s leadership, Cathay Pacific successfully navigated one of the most challenging periods in its history, restoring passenger capacity to pre-pandemic levels and expanding its global network to more than 100 destinations, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s leading airlines.
Looking ahead, Bradley said his priorities as incoming Chair will centre on working closely with the executive leadership team to further enhance the Cathay Group’s operational and financial performance. He also reaffirmed the Group’s commitment to Hong Kong, emphasising its role in supporting the city’s status as a leading international aviation hub.
Reflecting on his time as Chair, Healy described it as a privilege to lead the Cathay Group during a defining chapter in its 80-year history. He thanked employees for their resilience and dedication, as well as customers for their continued trust and loyalty.
Healy noted that Cathay’s strong roots in Hong Kong, its role within China, and its position connecting the city to global markets place the Group in a uniquely strategic position. He added that Cathay is investing over HK$100 billion across its businesses to enhance the customer experience, modernise its fleet, and strengthen all aspects of its operations, ensuring its long-term contribution to Hong Kong’s aviation ecosystem.
Bradley brings extensive international leadership experience to the role. Since joining the Swire Group in 1987, he has held senior executive positions across Hong Kong SAR, the Chinese Mainland, Japan, the Middle East, and the United States. Alongside his new role at Cathay Group, he will continue to serve as Chairman of Swire Pacific, John Swire & Sons (H.K.), Swire Properties, and Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company (HAECO).
