BLR Airport Sees 13% Surge in Coriander Cargo as Domestic Agri Trade Gains Momentum

Share

Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) recorded a robust 13 percent year-on-year increase in coriander cargo volumes during the June–November 2025 season, highlighting the growing strength and efficiency of India’s domestic agricultural supply chains. The airport handled a total of 5,904 metric tonnes of coriander during the six-month period, reinforcing its role as a key logistics hub for the movement of perishable produce across the country.

The rise in coriander handling reflects increasing demand from domestic markets and improved connectivity between agricultural production centres and consumption hubs. BLR Airport supported coriander movements to as many as 22 domestic destinations, with particularly strong growth recorded in northern and central Indian markets. Cities such as Lucknow, Varanasi and Jaipur emerged as major recipients, underscoring expanding consumption patterns and the need for faster, more reliable transport of fresh produce.

Airport officials noted that enhanced cargo infrastructure, streamlined handling processes and improved cold-chain capabilities have contributed to the steady growth in agri-cargo volumes. These measures have enabled farmers, aggregators and traders to move time-sensitive commodities like coriander more efficiently, reducing transit times and post-harvest losses.

The continued growth in coriander cargo also mirrors broader trends in India’s domestic agri trade, where rising urban demand and better logistics are reshaping supply chains. With Bengaluru serving as a strategic hub linking southern production regions to markets across the country, BLR Airport is expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting the movement of fresh agricultural produce in the coming years.
