Magma Aviation has strengthened its fleet with the addition of a new Boeing 747 freighter (B747F), marking another milestone in its ambitious global expansion strategy.
The new aircraft, introduced at the start of the final quarter of 2025, enhances Magma’s overall cargo capacity, enabling the carrier to serve existing clients more efficiently while opening new routes and services across key markets.
Building Capacity for Growth
Peter Kerins, CEO of Magma Aviation, said:
“With a new B747F aircraft added to our fleet, this increases our overall capacity. It will give us the ability not only to service current clients, but also allow us to fly new routes and expand services that clients are looking for.”
Kerins emphasized that the expansion is part of Magma’s long-term growth plan, ensuring high service reliability while meeting evolving customer needs.
Role of the B747F in Cargo Expansion
Despite the arrival of new-generation freighters offering improved efficiency, the B747F remains one of the most powerful and versatile aircraft in the air cargo industry, capable of carrying more than 100 tons per flight.
This flexibility allows Magma to transport outsized and specialized cargo, ranging from mining equipment to helicopters and boats. “With a new B747F aircraft in our fleet, this gives our team a great advantage to diversify the products we offer,” Kerins noted.
A Controlled, Strategic Expansion
Magma Aviation underlined that fleet growth must remain measured and strategic, especially as aircraft lease rates continue to rise.
Kerins highlighted the company’s preparedness:
“Magma’s operations team is the best in the business. All SOPs and SLAs are in place. Additionally, all route planning, handling arrangements, and ULD provision are set, and with the use of our own bespoke planning system, we have planned every step of the introduction meticulously.”
Vision for 2030
Looking ahead, Magma Aviation aims to triple its fleet size by 2030, with a balanced mix of wide-body aircraft including B777Fs and additional B747Fs. This growth will underpin the company’s strategy to expand global connectivity while maintaining operational excellence.
