EASP AIR BV has signed a Letter of Intent with Ostend-Bruges Airport to develop a new hangar and office complex as part of the airport’s modernisation drive.

The project, to be built on Apron 2, will replace outdated facilities with two large hangars and adjoining three-storey office towers, covering more than 4,900 sq m.

Nathan De Valck, chief executive of Ostend-Bruges Airport, said the development represented “a significant step towards the renewal and modernisation of our airport”, adding that it was part of a wider strategy for sustainable growth.

For EASP AIR, the investment marks a major milestone in its expansion. “Our choice for Ostend is a deliberate one,” said Pieter Voeten, the company’s chief executive. “The airport’s ambitions align perfectly with our own growth strategy. Its location and infrastructure make it the ideal base for our Special Mission Expertise Centre.”

The new centre will support specialised aviation operations with societal importance, including coastguard missions, aerial firefighting and disaster response. From Ostend, EASP AIR will continue to provide services for key end-users such as the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex).

Maintenance and logistics hub

The hangars will serve as the operational base for EASP AIR’s fleet of DO328 Maritime Patrol Aircraft, offering secure parking and full maintenance facilities. The site will also support work carried out with partner company JetSupport, which will focus on business jets and regional military training aircraft, including the Pilatus PC-7 and PC-21.

Designed with capacity to accommodate larger aircraft such as the Bombardier Global 7500, the facility will also house bonded warehousing, secure storage, and a dedicated shipments department to enhance cargo and logistics capabilities.

Office space will be shared by EASP AIR’s operations in the Netherlands and UK, JetSupport, and other existing tenants, reinforcing Ostend-Bruges Airport’s growing role as an aviation and logistics hub for the region.
