Frankfurt Airport handled 179,055 metric tonnes of cargo in July, up 3.7% on the same month last year, marking a stronger performance than in the first half of 2025.
Airport operator Fraport said the number of take-offs and landings reached 42,657, an increase of 5.3%, while total maximum take-off weights rose 2.3% to about 2.6m tonnes.
By contrast, figures from Airports Council International (ACI) Europe show that Frankfurt’s cargo volumes for the first six months of the year grew just 1% year on year to 968,427 tonnes.
The airport has seen several major developments this year aimed at strengthening its cargo operations.
In June, DHL Global Forwarding opened a 300,000-tonne capacity airfreight hub at Frankfurt, while Kuehne+Nagel and Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) parent SATS launched a pilot project to improve warehousing and trucking efficiency.
Although Frankfurt posted positive growth in the first half, stronger year-on-year gains were recorded at Liege (10.2%), Madrid (8.9%) and Cologne (3.5%).
Across Europe, ACI figures show overall cargo volumes rose by just 0.6% in the same period.
