Freightos has announced that SriLankan Cargo, the air freight division of SriLankan Airlines, is partnering with WebCargo to enable digital booking and payment capabilities. The integration—expected to go live later this quarter—will allow over 10,000 freight forwarding offices using WebCargo to instantly access, quote, book, and pay for SriLankan Cargo’s capacity via the platform.
This move significantly enhances Freightos’ footprint in South Asia, unlocking digital access to Colombo, a growing transshipment hub linking the Indian subcontinent with the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
SriLankan Cargo’s network serves 32 online destinations in 21 countries and over 200 destinations via interline partners. It offers strong capacity across key trade lanes, particularly to India and the Gulf region.
“SriLankan Cargo brings high-quality regional capacity into our digital network at a time when agility is key,” said Zvi Schreiber, CEO of Freightos.
“Forwarders gain instant access to critical South Asian trade lanes, including Colombo and India.”
The partnership also integrates WebCargo Pay, allowing non-IATA forwarders to book without needing airline credit lines or bank guarantees—helping democratize market access, especially in emerging economies.
“By joining Freightos’ WebCargo platform, we’re not just digitalizing our booking process—we’re expanding our reach to thousands of new potential customers,” said Chaminda Perera, Head of Cargo at SriLankan Airlines.
Additionally, SriLankan Cargo will benefit from WebCargo’s interlining capabilities, enhancing cooperation with major carriers such as Qatar Airways, Emirates SkyCargo, Turkish Airlines, and Etihad Cargo, and supporting complex, multi-carrier route bookings.
