ULD management specialist Jettainer and ULD manufacturer Hangyi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership in Unit Load Device (ULD) management with a particular focus on Mainland China.

The agreement was concluded during the Air Cargo China 2026. The cooperation aims to jointly deliver highly efficient, technology-driven and globally coordinated solutions for the provision, maintenance and operational management of ULDs.

By combining Hangyi’s manufacturing capabilities and regional market presence with Jettainer’s international fleet management expertise, the partners seek to enhance operational efficiency and create sustainable value across the air cargo supply chain.

Under the agreement, Hangyi will be responsible for the production and supply of ULDs in accordance with defined technical specifications, ensuring high-quality manufacturing standards. Jettainer will apply its global expertise in ULD fleet management and digital operational control to optimise fleet performance across networks.

ULD fleets are being efficiently managed via Jettainer’s proprietary IT platform, JettWareNG. In addition, Jettainer will oversee the technical onboarding process, including the integration of advanced IoT solutions for tracking, monitoring, and process optimisation. Operational coordination will be supported by Jettainer’s UCD team.

Both companies will also integrate their maintenance and repair capabilities. Hangyi currently operates MRO facilities in China and Kuala Lumpur, with additional facilities in Saudi Arabia, Europe and Canada planned. For repairs outside these locations, Jettainer will provide support through its global MRO partner network.

The partnership further includes comprehensive trucking services. While Hangyi ensures strong domestic coverage within China, Jettainer will support European operations through its established logistics network.

Depending on operational requirements, Hangyi can also provide warehouse capacity for ULD storage in China.

Dr Jan-Wilhelm Breithaupt, CEO of Jettainer, said: “With Hangyi, we have a strong partner by our side. Together, we can offer airlines in Mainland China the most comprehensive ULD service portfolio, including the latest IoT tracking technology for maximum efficiency. This partnership brings together Chinese expertise and global capabilities even more closely,”.

Mr Fei Qiang, CEO at Hangyi, said: “The collaboration with Jettainer marks an important milestone in our growth strategy toward becoming a global high-quality aviation service provider.

We continuously enhance our innovative ULD product portfolio as well as our MRO services to deliver first-class, efficient, and cost-effective solutions. Together with Jettainer, we are delighted to offer an integrated solution for the Chinese market”.
