Cathay Pacific has announced that Tom Owen, Director of Cargo, will step down from his role later this year, following five years at the helm of the airline’s cargo division.
Owen will move to a new position as Group Director of Corporate Development at Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (HAECO), a major aircraft maintenance and engineering firm within the Swire Group, which also holds a majority stake in Cathay Pacific.
Reflecting on his departure, Owen said: “It goes without saying that I will miss all the colleagues at Cathay Cargo and also the industry friends with whom I have worked over the past years. I thank everyone for making my time in the air cargo industry so special.”
Seasoned Cathay Executive to Take Over
Owen will be succeeded by Dominic Perrett, currently Regional General Manager for Southeast Asia.
Perrett has been with Cathay since 2000, aside from a brief period at Swire Pacific Offshore, also formerly part of the Swire Group.
Perrett assumed his current role in 2021 and has previously held several key positions within the airline, including General Manager of Customer Care, Aircrew and Flight Operations, and Inflight Services.
The leadership transition comes at a time of continued growth and transformation within Cathay Cargo, which has played a pivotal role in Hong Kong’s aviation recovery and the airline’s post-pandemic expansion strategy.
