Yusen Logistics (Shenzhen) has expanded its operations to handle import air cargo at its Dongguan Humen Bonded Logistics Park (BLP) site using feeder vessels from Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). This development follows the establishment of Yusen Logistics Hong Kong’s container freight station (CFS) for export air cargo at the HKIA-operated BLP, known as the “Airport City” project, in March last year.
Previously, Yusen Logistics launched services to transport export air cargo from Hong Kong to international destinations via feeder vessels. Now, the Chinese subsidiary of Japan-based Yusen Logistics has begun handling import air cargo at the Dongguan Humen BLP.
Yusen Logistics stated in a press release, “Transporting cargo which arrives at Hong Kong International Airport directly to Dongguan Humen BLP by feeder vessels, we have established a shipping route for airfreight to arrive in Dongguan from overseas in a single stop. With the addition of air import cargo handling, we have begun to provide both air import and export services utilizing Dongguan Humen BLP.”
Since the launch of this service in May, Yusen Logistics has consistently handled air import cargoes from Taiwan and Thailand, meeting strong transportation demand. The company plans to expand its operations in Dongguan, enhancing it as an air cargo distribution base in the Greater Bay Area, which includes Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. This expansion aims to create new value and provide customers with more options in response to the evolving business environment and the need for greater supply chain efficiency.
Promoted by the Hong Kong Airport Authority (AAHK), the BLP serves as a strategic logistics base for air cargo in the Greater Bay Area. It connects the region to global markets, offering easy access not only from Guangdong Province but also from across China and internationally.
