Airport services provider Talma has appointed former Avianca executive Julián Laverde as General Manager of its Colombian operations, as the company looks to strengthen its position in one of Latin America’s largest aviation markets.
Laverde brings more than two decades of experience in the aviation sector, having held a number of senior leadership roles within the airline industry.
Most recently, he served as chief executive of Avianca Express and previously held the positions of Senior Vice President of Network Operations and Ground Operations at Avianca.
Extensive aviation leadership experience
Talma said Laverde’s appointment reflects its commitment to strengthening operational performance and supporting future growth in Colombia.
A mechanical engineer who graduated from Universidad de los Andes, he also holds an MBA from INALDE Business School.
The company highlighted his experience in strategic management, operational leadership and overseeing complex airline operations as key strengths that will support the continued expansion of its Colombian business.
Leadership transition
Laverde succeeds Gonzalo Aristizábal Correa, who has led Talma Colombia for the past 12 years.
During his tenure, Aristizábal oversaw the development and growth of the company’s operations in the country, helping establish Talma as a major provider of aviation and airport services.
He will now take on a new position within the organisation as Corporate Manager of Talent and Culture.
Focus on growth
Talma said the leadership change forms part of its strategy to continue expanding its services and capabilities across Colombia’s aviation sector.
The company provides a range of airport and ground handling services throughout Latin America, supporting airlines and airport operators with passenger, cargo and ramp operations.
With air travel demand continuing to recover and grow across the region, the appointment places an experienced aviation executive at the helm of Talma’s Colombian business during a period of ongoing industry expansion.
