Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) and Saudia Cargo have taken a major step toward advancing the air cargo industry’s digital transformation through a collaborative project with airfreight IT solutions provider CHAMP Cargosystems. The initiative supports the implementation of IATA’s ONE Record standard, aiming to improve transparency and real-time visibility across the supply chain.

The joint project serves as a practical example of how ONE Record can streamline data sharing among all stakeholders, accelerating adoption of the initiative across the industry, according to CHAMP.

John Batten, Chief Executive EMEAA at WFS, emphasized the importance of the collaboration:
“This marks another significant milestone in WFS’s digitalization journey. Being part of a real-world use case not only benefits WFS and our clients but also sends a strong message to the industry about the value of embracing digital solutions. The biggest leaps forward often come from collaborations like this—driven by IATA and supported by forward-thinking airlines, handlers, and tech partners. ONE Record is set to play a vital role in the future of air cargo.”

CHAMP’s 1Neo-Connect service enables seamless integration with the ONE Record framework, standardizing data exchange between carriers and ground handlers. This results in more accurate shipment data, instant booking updates, and improved shipment visibility.

With real-time data sharing, the system enhances planning, operational efficiency, and decision-making agility—empowering stakeholders with immediate access to shipment status and reducing reliance on manual processes.

Chris McDermott, CEO of CHAMP Cargosystems, said:
“ONE Record allows us to bring greater operational agility and value to our clients. With 1Neo-Connect, we offer a plug-and-play solution that simplifies and accelerates this transition.”

Eng. Hesham Alhussayen, Vice President of Corporate Services at Saudia Cargo, highlighted the project’s strategic importance:
“Our work with CHAMP to implement IATA’s ONE Record is a key milestone in our Digital Transformation roadmap. It fosters efficiency, transparency, and enables a more responsive and high-quality service experience for our customers.”

CHAMP has also developed standalone sandbox and pilot environments for 1Neo-Connect, allowing customers to trial ONE Record capabilities before going live—making the path to digitalization smoother and more accessible.
