Swissport Appoints Ajay Barolia as Executive Vice President Cargo for North America

Swissport has appointed Ajay Barolia as Executive Vice President Cargo for North America, taking charge of the company’s regional air cargo business and reporting directly to CEO Nelson Camacho.

Barolia, who joined Swissport in June 2024 as Senior Vice President North America, has already made a significant impact on the organization. His new role highlights Swissport’s strategic commitment to strengthening its leadership team to drive operational efficiency, innovation, and customer satisfaction across the region.

With over 30 years of industry expertise, Barolia is widely recognized for his deep knowledge of global cargo standards, operational management, and digital transformation. He also brings extensive experience in QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety & Environment) and logistics optimization, positioning Swissport as a leader in next-generation cargo handling.

Working alongside Peter Weir (SVP, Commercial – Cargo NOAM), Barolia leads a regional team of four Vice Presidents overseeing East, West, Express, and Canada operations. Together, they will focus on expanding Swissport’s footprint through joint ventures, strategic acquisitions, and CAPEX investments aimed at modernizing and automating key cargo gateways.
