Singapore Changi Airport reported one of its strongest air cargo performances in 2025, supported by rising global demand for semiconductors and technology-related products.

Airfreight throughput reached 2.08 million tonnes during the year, up 4.5% compared with 2024, making it one of the best cargo results in the airport’s history.

Growth was recorded across all cargo segments, including exports, imports and transhipments. Changi Airport Group said volumes were boosted by front-loaded shipping activity in the first three quarters of the year, as well as strong demand linked to artificial intelligence, electric vehicles and clean technology.

China, the United States, Australia, Hong Kong and India were Changi’s largest air cargo markets in 2025. The fastest-growing markets were China, the United States and Taiwan.

Passenger traffic at the airport also reached a new record, with nearly 70 million passenger movements, while aircraft movements increased to 374,000 landings and take-offs.

Yam Kum Weng, chief executive of Changi Airport Group, said 2025 had been a strong year for the airport as a global air hub.

He said: “We achieved a solid air cargo performance despite a volatile global environment, alongside record passenger traffic and network growth. This would not have been possible without the close cooperation of our airline partners.”

Changi Airport is one of Asia’s leading air cargo hubs, handling high-value and time-sensitive shipments across technology, pharmaceuticals and e-commerce supply chains.
