Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas Renews ULD Agreement with Jettainer
Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas has renewed its long-standing partnership with Jettainer, extending their collaboration for ULD (Unit Load Device) management services into the coming years.
Under the renewed agreement, Jettainer will continue to provide comprehensive ULD supply and maintenance, supporting the airline’s long-haul operations from its Madrid base to destinations across South and Central America.
Introduction of Advanced IoT Tracking Technology
As part of the extended contract, Plus Ultra will progressively equip its ULD fleet with Jettainer’s latest IoT tracking technology, delivering real-time, end-to-end visibility across the entire ULD supply chain.
The solution provides enhanced tracking accuracy while generating actionable insights to optimise fleet utilisation and improve operational performance throughout each ULD’s lifecycle.
The system, developed in collaboration with Trackonomy, combines multiple data transmission technologies, including LoRa, BLE and cellular connectivity.
Hybrid Network Improves Visibility and Efficiency
The new approach introduces a hybrid tracking network, where fixed LoRa and BLE readers are installed at key locations, while cellular-enabled devices act as mobile readers.
Using meshing technology, these devices create a dynamic, self-expanding network, significantly improving data coverage and visibility compared to traditional tracking systems.
The integration of cellular and meshing capabilities marks a step forward in delivering greater transparency, efficiency and intelligence in ULD management.
Supporting Long-Term Growth
Jettainer has supported Plus Ultra since the airline launched scheduled long-haul operations in 2016, ensuring reliable ULD availability as the carrier expanded its network.
Throughout this period, the ULD fleet has been continuously adapted to meet changing operational requirements.
Alejandro Casado, COO and AOC Accountable Manager at Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas, said the proven reliability of the partnership, combined with the benefits of enhanced visibility and efficiency through IoT technology, were key factors in extending the agreement.
Strengthening ULD Management Capabilities
Dr. Jan-Wilhelm Breithaupt, CEO of Jettainer, said the extension reflects the strong relationship between the two companies and highlighted the role of advanced tracking technology in improving operational performance.
The renewed partnership reinforces Jettainer’s position in the ULD management market, as airlines increasingly adopt digital tools to enhance efficiency, reduce costs and improve supply chain visibility.
