Silk Way West Airlines has increased its cargo operations at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport, adding a second weekly international freighter service.

From 10 January 2026, the Azerbaijani cargo carrier will operate an additional Boeing 747-8F flight, offering nonstop service between Houston and Baku.

The new frequency builds on the airline’s existing once-weekly operation at the Texas airport.

Houston Airports said the move reflects the city’s growing role as a major global air cargo hub. Airport officials highlighted the reliability of operations at Bush Airport and rising demand for international freight capacity.

The expanded service will support the transport of high-value and time-sensitive goods, including energy industry equipment, medical supplies, high-tech products, perishables and industrial cargo.

It also strengthens long-standing trade links between Houston and Azerbaijan, which have shared a sister-city relationship since 1976.

Silk Way West Airlines first began flying to Houston in spring 2023, launching a weekly freighter service to Baku with intermediate stops in Chicago and later Frankfurt-Hahn.

The new second weekly flight will operate nonstop, offering faster transit times for shippers.

The airline operates a global cargo network using a fleet of Boeing 747-8F and 747-400F aircraft, with its main base in Baku.

Founded in 2012, Silk Way West Airlines serves markets across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.

Looking ahead, the carrier plans to expand its fleet with deliveries of Boeing 777-300F aircraft from 2027, Airbus A350 freighters from 2028, and Boeing 777-8F aircraft from 2029.
