Cathay Cargo recorded a 10% year-on-year increase in air cargo volumes in November, driven by robust exports from Hong Kong and mainland China, as well as growth across several international routes and specialist shipment solutions.

The airline carried 157,472 tonnes of cargo during the month, while cargo capacity rose by 7%. Revenue Freight Tonne Kilometres increased by 7.5% year on year, and the cargo load factor improved by 0.5 percentage points to 62.8%.

Cathay Pacific’s chief customer and commercial officer, Lavinia Lau, said demand was supported by solid exports from its home market and the Chinese Mainland, alongside growth on Southeast Asia, South Asia, Middle East and Africa routes. Specialist products also performed strongly, with Cathay Priority seeing sustained demand into Northeast Asia, while Cathay Expert and Cathay Fresh benefited from increased volumes within Northeast Asia and from South America.

For the first 11 months of 2025, Cathay Cargo’s total tonnage rose 10% compared with the same period last year. Lau noted that the air cargo peak season had been “robust” and was expected to continue into early December, though freighter capacity would be gradually scaled back from mid-month as demand eases. Core demand on key trade lanes, she added, is expected to remain resilient.
